Ever walk by the makeup counter in a department store and be tempted to have a makeover? You know—let a professional makeup artist combine several tricks of the trade to even your skin tone, brighten your eyes and give your best features definition. With a smile makeover, Dr. McElroy is the dental professional who combines several cosmetic dentistry treatments to give you your most attractive smile. Don’t let a number of smile imperfections keep you from smiling. Encinitas, CA, cosmetic dentist Dr. McElroy is ready and waiting to improve the appearance of your smile.
The Process of a Smile Makeover
A smile makeover is essentially a step-by-step plan that Dr. McElroy develops to take you from the smile you have to the smile you want. Of course, he will consider the condition of your teeth and your gums when creating your personalized smile makeover. In addition though, he considers your facial features, too, such as your complexion, your hair color and the shape of your lips. All of these influence the final look of a smile makeover.
Treatments in a Smile Makeover
Any number of cosmetic dentistry procedures may be included in a smile makeover. Some of the ones Dr. McElroy often chooses are the following.
Composite Bonding. With the same composite resin material that is used to fill a cavity, Dr. McElroy can reshape teeth that are chipped, slightly broken or irreversibly stained. The tooth-colored material is applied to a damaged tooth and quickly hardened with a curing light.
Porcelain Veneers. Also called dental veneers, these are cemented to the facial side of teeth to cover up a number of cosmetic flaws including chips and breaks, as well as teeth that are somewhat crooked or that have wide gaps between them. Dr. McElroy custom designs each veneer to correct the appearance of an individual tooth.
Invisalign® and Clear Correct® Both of these are orthodontic systems that discreetly move teeth into proper alignment. Invisalign and Clear Correct use clear plastic aligners that are similar to snug mouth trays that fit over your teeth to move them into place.
Teeth Whitening. With professional grade teeth whitening gel that we apply in our office or that you take home and use at your convenience, you can have a smile that is several shades whiter and brighter. This is often the finishing touch to a smile makeover.
