Understanding Dental Insurance
Making sense of any insurance plan can seem daunting — there are deductibles to meet, claims to file, and other hoops to jump through. At McElroy Smiles By Design, we want to help make using your dental insurance a breeze. Our expert staff is well-versed in the latest coverage trends, and we are ready to discuss the ins and outs of your plan to help you make the most out of what you’re owed.
At the end of the year, here are the terms you need to understand to make your insurance plan work for you.
Deductible: The amount of money you must pay out-of-pocket for services before your insurance coverage kicks in.
Annual maximum: The amount up to which your dental insurance must pay for services after you have met your deductible.
In-network: A dentist who has come to an agreement with your insurance company to provide care at a reduced rate for you.
If you have met your deductible but not yet reached your annual maximum, now is the time to see about getting that crown or having that filling replaced. Dr. McElroy is in-network with a number of PPO plans, including…

Full Coverage for Preventive Services
Most dental insurance plans completely cover two checkups and cleanings as well as a set of x-rays each year. If you have yet to undergo your routine preventive care for 2016, now is an excellent time to cash in on these benefits.
Healthy smiles that last a lifetime are built on regular visits to the dentist. During your checkup and cleaning, we will remove the plaque and tartar that cause cavities and gum disease. Your dentist will also check for the early warning signs of these and other oral issues. The sooner they are detected, the easier and more conservative the treatment.

There is still time to make the most out of your dental insurance benefits, but the clock is winding down on 2016. Contact our office to schedule an appointment with Dr. McElroy today.
