What is ClearCorrect?
ClearCorrect is an orthodontic system that does not require the use of any metal wires or brackets. Instead, a series of custom-made aligner trays are worn over the teeth to gradually move the teeth into their correct position. Dr. McElroy uses 3D models of your teeth to create a treatment plan. Dr. McElroy uses “Phase Zero,” which are passive aligners that are designed to immediately fit over your teeth. This allows you to become accustom to wearing the aligners prior to undergoing the entire treatment. Once Dr. McElroy feels the treatment is right for you, he will create the finalized treatment plan and custom-made aligners using 3D printing technology and computer precision.
You will then wear the removable, clear trays for roughly 22 hours each day. Each tray in the series is worn for about two weeks. You are able to easily switch to the next tray in the series right from your own home. You will not need to visit Dr. McElroy for any adjustments, however, you will need to come into the office every few weeks so the progression of the treatment can be monitored. As you switch to each new tray, you will notice a difference in your teeth’s alignment, allowing you to see your new smile take form.
It takes an average of 12 months to complete the treatment, but treatment time will vary depending on individual treatment plans. At the end of your treatment, you will need a retainer to prevent your teeth from moving back into their prior positions.
While ClearCorrect is an effective treatment, it is not right for everyone. You will need to undergo a consultation to determine if the clear aligner trays are right for you.
What are the Benefits to ClearCorrect?
Many patients have come to prefer ClearCorrect because it offers a nearly invisible treatment to straighten the teeth. In addition, the aligner trays are more comfortable than traditional braces. There is no tugging or pulling of wires and there is no discomfort to the inside on the lips or cheeks. Since the trays are removable, oral hygiene is easier and there are no dietary restrictions.
