Meet Dr. Tyler McElroy in Encinitas, CA
Dr. Tyler McElroy
Dr. Tyler McElroy feels very blessed and fortunate to call Encinitas his hometown. He attended La Costa Canyon High School where he was involved in sports such as football and baseball. He was curious about dentistry at that time and had the opportunity to shadow his Dad, Dr. Greg McElroy here at Smiles By Design. Tyler then attended The University of San Diego where he received a Degree in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry. From there he relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah to continue his education and attended dental school at Roseman University’s College of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Tyler McElroy has always had the urge, passion, and enjoyment of helping others. During his high school years, he had the opportunity to donate his time after school volunteering at local elementary schools in the San Diego area to provide free tutoring and mentoring for children who otherwise may not have had the access to these resources. While completing his Undergraduate studies Dr. McElroy then joined his University’s Pre-Dental Club and was selected to be their Head of Community Service where he was able to organize additional outreach events to the surrounding communities. While attending dental school in Utah, Dr. McElroy continued to serve as a volunteer at a local Boy’s and Girl’s Club after school where he continued to provide assistance to those in need.
Dr. McElroy’s initial drive to pursue a career in dentistry materialized when he was a teenager and was able to volunteer during one of Smiles By Design’s annual free dental charity events, Dentistry from the Heart. This early experience of providing free dental work to the Encinitas community and surrounding communities deeply impacted Dr. McElroy and helped him realize what an incredible gift it is to be able to deliver dentistry and help others. More recently, Dr. McElroy has traveled abroad to foreign countries such as the Dominican Republic and Mexico to provide dental work to those in need as well as partaking in free annual dental charity events in Utah and San Diego such as Give Kids a Smile, Back to School Brush Up and Smiles for Freedom.
Now back home here in Encinitas, Dr. McElroy looks forward to providing all individuals with genuine dental care while serving his community at the same time.
